September 13, 2013 “Shawn Update” We thank the Lord for another blessed week of improvement for Shawn. We had our second family meeting here at Craig Hospital with Shawn’s medical staff. The consensus of his staff of 8 individuals was that Shawn is “exceeding expectations.” He continues to improve with his speaking ability & if you know Shawn you know that he has an excellent vocabulary. He is using the right adjectives in his dialogue. His fine motor skills continue to improve and an emphasis now is on his memory skills, although they are pretty good in some areas. Physically, he is getting stronger & it’s evident in his physical therapy classes. His arm control & body awareness are much better. All this to say, God’s healing continues to bless Shawn daily. We are humbled & astonished by God’s mercy & compassion. As Dr. Weintraub stated, “Shawn has shown measurable improvements.” Please don’t waiver in your prayers for Shawn. It’s your prayers that the Lord hears & the results that our family sees. We are in awe of God as we experience answered prayer daily by Shawn’s developments. We ask for special prayers for the new medicine that he’s taking. It has very positive effects for Shawn, but he has been feeling sick to his stomach & a bit “funky” the last few days. Please pray these negatives from the medication will pass soon & not effect Shawn. We are so grateful for everyone’s prayers-thank you so much.
